ooty Horse race

UDHAGAMANDALAM: The famous horse race in Ooty, an event spread over 45 days with 500 horses on the tracks, has been postponed by two weeks this summer.

This is the second time in its more than 100-year-old history that the event is being postponed. The racing season-2013, which traditionally commences on April 14, is likely to begin on May 1 instead. The delay, organizers say, is due to a strike by horse caretakers at the Madras race club (MRC) in Chennai and the prevailing water scarcity in the hill resort.
